Sheet Metal Services
What is Sheet Metal?
Sheet metal is simply thin, flat pieces of metal. These are created through an industrial process, and are one of the more common forms that metal can be supplied in; they can then be cut and bent into a wide variety of shapes through cold working processes, such as shearing, punching, cutting, folding, and splicing to name a few. Numerous types of material can be formed in this way, such as mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and titanium.
What can Sheet Metal be Used For?
Due to the many different types of metal that can be formed, sheet metal has a multitude of applications. These traditionally centred around the building and manufacturing industries, but have since expanded into automobile, architecture, and even aerospace, where aeroplanes have their wings and fuselages covered in sheet metal. Thanks to modern processes, the thickness of sheet metal can vary significantly, from incredibly thin sheets, to pieces thicker than 6mm.
